Preservation and Long-Term Access Policy

La Barca de Teseo is committed to digital preservation and sustainable access to its academic content. To achieve this, we implement the following strategies:

  • Decentralized Preservation: We use the LOCKSS program, which is compatible with Open Journal Systems (OJS), to ensure decentralized digital preservation and perpetual access to the authentic versions of published articles.
  • Local Backups: We perform quarterly local backups of the entire database, ensuring the integrity and recovery of the information in case of technical failures.
  • Cloud Storage: After each publication, we perform backups in cloud storage services, with high standards of security and reliability.
  • Security Updates: We keep our OJS system up to date to benefit from the latest security and functionality improvements.

These policies are designed to ensure the integrity of the content, its continuous accessibility, and its long-term preservation, in line with the most rigorous academic and ethical standards.

Explanation of Key Points

  • Decentralized preservation: This strategy ensures that the journal's content is preserved in multiple locations, making it more likely to survive in the event of a disaster or technical failure.
  • Local backups: These backups provide a second layer of protection in case of a failure of the journal's primary database.
  • Cloud storage: This strategy provides a scalable and secure way to store the journal's content.
  • Security updates: These updates help to protect the journal's content from unauthorized access or modification.
